Tuesday Nights

These are the girls that are going to help make this marathon happen. With Chad being gone trying to get my running in can be a challenge. Every Tuesday night Victoria and Heidi come over to watch the girls and Landon and Cole (Condra's kiddos) while we do speed workouts with the San Diego Track Club.

And he is gone!

Today Chad left for his deployment. We are pretty lucky b/c this looks like it will only be for four months and not the usual 6 months. Yesterday was a teacher workday. After Allie's tumbling class we had some friends over for a playdate and lunch. Condra had the brilliant idea to make Chad a going away banner. The kids loved decorating their banner and us moms had a pretty good time doing ours too (it is the one on the left side of the picture).

One of the main purposes of the blog is to keep family and friends updated while we are away. Now Chad will get to see pictures and read stories through the blog as well while he is gone.

Lauren wanted me to make sure and say..."We miss you bad already Daddy!"

Lunch Play Date

Today was a teacher workday. Chad is leaving tomorrow and I had to keep myself distracted from the inevitable. We had Zoe, Jack, Landon and Cole along with moms Condra and Susan over for lunch and a play date. Here the kids were getting ready to watch Peter Pan.

Happy Birthday Chad

Today is Chad's birthday. The girls were very excited about this. Lauren thought for sure Daddy shouldn't have to go to work or her to school on his birthday. She was so sweet and remembered first thing when she woke up to wish him a Happy Birthday without prompting from me.

When he got home from work we opened presents and had birthday cake. We had our sitter, Heidi come over so that we could go out to dinner. We ate at the Linkery which was the perfect restaurant to celebrate. We had a fantastic dinner there. Chad loved all his gifts and for some reason thinks 34 sounds better than 33.

Laurie came to visit

Laurie came for a visit to warm up here in San Diego from the chilly Chicago winter weather. And in typical Laurie fashion she really knows how to have fun. She came in on Thursday and I showed her around Coronado. We got the girls a gelato and hit the shops ending with a cocktail at the del. After a fun dinner at home we met Krissy for wine tasting. This picture is from our walk home. This is the "boot camp" buggy that is parked on our street. Laurie just had to get her picture taken in it. I was bent over laughing hysterically. Friday I had a sitter so that we could go shopping in La Jolla and then off to a makeover at Nordstrom. That night we went to dinner with Susan at the Prado. Saturday was a washout and after picking up food from Whole Foods we spent the day cooking together. We had the best weekend...thanks for coming Laurie.

Winter in San Diego

This how we like to spend our winter days in San Diego. Our good friends the Hunts called for an outing to La Jolla Shores. I was at the commissary, but sped home to get our beach chairs out and a picnic lunch packed for a fun afternoon at the beach. The kids had a blast. Zoe and Lauren loved the playground while Allie and Jack preferred the beach.
